Barton Hegeler has three decades of
experience as a civil and criminal trial lawyer.
The Hegeler firm specializes in the representation of the healthcare community including hospital and healthcare provider malpractice actions, administrative and licensing actions, and employment law including counseling and investigations in response threatened litigation. The Hegeler firm has represented many of the largest healthcare providers in San Diego since 1988.
The Hegeler firm uses the insight, knowledge, and
experience gained in handling hundreds of civil
and criminal cases to assist clients in
protecting their interests throughout all phases
of litigation, from pre-litigation internal
investigations, depositions, administrative
hearings, through trial. The firm also has an
appellate practice.
Mr. Hegeler was a Prosecutor in Kern County
California for eight years, during which time he
specialized in the prosecution of serious and
violent crimes, and was one of the founders of the
Kern County District Attorney’s Sex Crimes
Prosecution Unit.
Mr. Hegeler joined the law firm of McInnis,
Fitzgerald, Rees & Sharkey in 1987, and
became a Partner in 1992. Mr. Hegeler was a
member of the firm’s Health Care Group, and
specialized in all aspects of representation of
the health care community.
Mr. Hegeler formed his law firm in 1995 with an emphasis on providing superior representation through a proactive philosophy and by maintaining a close working relationship with clients. Mr. Hegeler has obtained the highest rating from the Martindale-Hubbell national directory of lawyers and law firms.
Mr. Hegeler is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Mr. Hegeler is an Advocate in the American Board of Trial Advocates; he is also certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys with special competence in medical professional liability. Mr. Hegeler is also a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel.
